چکیده

Understanding the adaptive mechanisms of forest species is vital to ensure their survival in a climate change scenario. This study aimed at uncovering relationship between genetic variability and environmental variables natural Castanea sativa populations, unveiling how different scenarios drove local adaption processes using landscape genomics approach. Our findings provide useful data for future management this species. Temperate species, such as chestnut (Castanea Mill.), are currently threatened by increasing temperature together with disruption reduction precipitation due change. In context, understanding adaptation will help manage conservation forests. We studied populations C. approach identify processes. Using five genomic SSRs eight functional EST-SSRs markers, 268 individuals belonging ten European distributed contrasting climatic sites were genotyped. addition, associations allelic variation (environmental association analyses approach) performed Sam?ada LFMM. Results highlighted strong inter-relationship evolutionary resulting variation. STRUCTURE analysis based on markers split three separate gene pools (K = 3), mostly agreement conditions existing areas. Divergent spatial patterns rainy arid areas found. detected total 202 among 22 alleles, 9% which related outlier locus FIR059, known be implicated regulatory during water stress Landscape revealed pattern variation, where specific influenced frequencies distribution fixation several investigated underline close indicate could valuable information rapidly changing environment.

Nutritional quality of chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) cultivars from Portugal

Chemical composition of eight sweet chestnut cultivars from the three protected designation of origin (PDO) areas in the Trás-osMontes region were studied: Aveleira, Rebordã, Trigueira and Zeive from PDO ‘Terra Fria’, Demanda, Longal and Martaı́nha from PDO ‘Soutos da Lapa’ and Judia from PDO ‘Padrela’. Chestnuts were characterised by high moisture content ( 50%), high levels of starch (43 g 100...

Aerobiology of sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.) in north-west Croatia.

The aims of the study were to analyse characteristics of the Castanea airborne pollen and to compare aeropalynological data obtained from two sampling stations in north-west Croatia. The study was conducted in Zagreb and Samobor during the 2003-2006 periods, using the seven-day volumetric samplers of the Hirst design. In both study areas, the seasons of chestnut pollination were similar and las...

Characterization of Chestnut (Castanea sativa, Mill) Starch for Industrial Utilization

Studies were conducted to characterize the chestnut and its starch. Chemical composition of the chestnuts showed high level of starch. Moisture level in the raw nuts was around 50g/100g in wet basis and starch content, around 80g/100g in dry basis; other nut flour components were protein (5.58 g/100g), lipid (5.39 g/100g), crude fiber (2.34 g/100g) and ash (2.14 g/100g). Starch fraction was che...
